Album Concept
The album “Conquest of the Pacific” is named after the 5-movement suite, the main concept of which was developed through ten last years. At first it was designed to record two separate programs – one for acoustic orchestral instruments, the other for electric rock band.
We surmised after that both would win when commingled with each other, so the rock sound invaded the chamber orchestra style. And on the contrary woodwinds were accepted into classic heavy rock cast. Along with our own compositions we dare to present two instrumental arrangements of genuine Gentle Giant masterpieces. Besides, the headline composition features some symbolic motives in English music as Jethro Tull’s “Velvet Green”, Benjamin Britten’s “Guide to the Orchestra” (“Variations on Henry Purcell theme”) and Edward Elgar’s March from “Pomp and Circumstance”.
Instruments used: Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Bass Guitar, Drums, Percussion, Keyboards(Organ, Harpsichord, Clavinet), Violin, Flute, Cello, Harp, Oboe, Bassoon, English Horn (in The Way Back Home) and Clarinet and French Horn (in “Golden Hind”).
To our disadvantage we are not like real Gentle Giant, and can’t provide playing all those by ourselves, but to our luck we have a lot of good friends that suggest their help, so the list of invited guest musicians will be too impressive!!!
